SWEETHEARTS

I walked again down memory's lane
And viewed the scenes of yore;
Your nymph-like form and muslin gown,
I have treasured oe'r and oe'r.

We pledged our truth 'mid starry skies,
And two hearts did beat as one;
Assured of strength, in our bond of love
As we challenged life's battles and won.

Your voice rang out in the village choir,
To bless each one I the fold;
Tho time has faded y our golden locks,
I now treasure the silver and gold.

Tethered y love, 'mid our smiles and tears,
We grew richer as time traveled on;
I would not exchange my place with a King,
For I chose a Queen of my own.

Tho you had no wealth or even fame,
Or a diadem to place in your hair;
I knew your heart was purest gold,
And I felt like a millionaire.

Many times I have lived in Auld Lang Syne,
And dreamed of The Sweet By and By;
'Twas Amazing Grace, that o'ershadowed our hearts,
We will banquet some day in the sky.

Red roses speak of your ruby lips,
Your eyes are the violets, so blue
I'm grateful for the God-given wisdom
To know I was meant for you.
