POTTAGE

He traded his youth, gave God a King,
His heart, he gave for the throne;
Exemplary stature, a goodly face
God anointed, to use as His own.
Courageous in battle, fearing no foe
He was dauntless, determined to win;
Routing invasion, freeing the land,
And Gilgal proclaimed him as King.

He traded his courage, for weakness of men,
His heart was o'ershadowed by sin;
Loosing his stature, lost in the crowd,
And loosing his grip as a King.
Saving the best, tho told to destroy
The people, the herds and the Kind.
Obedience far better, than sacrifice now;
He had traded for pottage - and sin.
