MY NAME - WALLACE
My father never gave me wealth,
He had none at all to give;
But he provided me a home,
'Twas a pleasant place to live.
He gave me a special package,
It was given me at birth;
'Twas then I received the family name
Not knowing its full worth.
My name is so important,
More precious than silver or gold;
It should never be left unguarded,
Nor ever be undersold.
Through the years it stayed untarnished,
Increased in favor and worth;
It was my greatest earthly possession,
The name I was given at birth
I can still hear the words of my father,
Tho he never reached fortune or fame;
He gave me the package untarnished,
"I am leaving you my good name."
If you could reach the age of Methuselah,
And corner the gold of the earth;
There would never be enough to purchase
The name you were given at birth
