The Three R's
At eventime, when prayers, have been said,
And the children safely, tucked, in bed,
I bend, my knee and earnestly pleas;
'Teach me Lord, teach me to read'
'For God so loved, He gave His Son';
That is sufficient for everyone.
I want to know, too, how to write,
Please guide, my hand, from left to right,
I want to write to kith and kin,
And let them know, I am free from sin;
I painstakingly write - "Come see a man" -
Thank you, Lord, for God's holy plan.
I must know too, how to count to three,
The Father, the Spirit and Son agree;
If any lack Wisdom, let him ask of God -
He is faithful and just, throughout His Word;
Thankful and just, throughout His Word;
As I rise for prayer, at my Father's knee.
