MANNERS
The warmth has gone from "Thank you,"
And "You're Welcome," is just a phrase,
There's no need to say, "I'm sorry,"
It belongs to the former days.
Would I dare say, "I beg your pardon,"
Or use an, "If you please,"
Perhaps, I would be called old-fashioned,
To try kindness, in full degree.
I will say, "Please, do forgive me" - -
Please allay my constant fear,
I humbly seek your friendship,
As I now shed bitter tears.
Let this handclasp, seal the bargain,
Feel the warmth, as love o'erflows;
Like the weld of steel, in sutures,
We'll be friends, come weal or woe.
